Dedicated to Improving Your Performance and Lifestyle
Amanda Polk Sobolewski, Oly:
Hi! I am a 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist and mother of 5!
Yes, it’s true…I am a 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist in the Women’s 8+! What is that you ask? It’s rowing in a boat of 8 rowers and 1 coxswain (the little person who yells at the rowers a lot, haha). I rowed for 15 years, constantly seeking and achieving higher levels of sports performance before winning gold at the Rio de Janeiro games in 2016. Along my rowing journey, for 8 of those years, I rowed at the elite level, achieving 5 World Champion titles and 2 World Records.
I started Heart for Gold realizing that sharing my personal health journey can help many others. From an elite athlete with the highest goals of performance to a parent with the goals of being healthy while navigating busy family schedules, I have learned to adjust my regimens accordingly. Training for the Olympics was most certainly physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually demanding, but Motherhood seems to be a whole different ball game! The amount of energy I need to keep up with 5 kids is never-ending, but I incorporate healthy and convenient habits that have helped me significantly. My goal is to help as many people as I can feel better than their current state. Nutrition and regimens go a long way and the best way to implement is making it a routine. Whether it’s improving in sports performance or your quality of life, I would love to help guide you to feeling better and stronger so you can be your best self!
Eric Sobolewski, Ph.D.:
Hi, I am a Ph.D. Professor and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and I am a father of 5!
I hold a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina in Human Movement and have been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) for 15 years. I also have a certification in US Weightlifting. I was a college football player at Utah State, where my passion for strength and fitness began. I went on to be a strength coach for Weber State University, where we had the most successful run in school history with 3 straight conference titles in basketball while producing a first-round draft pick and eventual rookie of the year in the NBA. I also worked with all 15 sports, ranging from football to women’s soccer. I have trained elite athletes who have performed in the Olympics, NBA, and NFL, but I have also worked with high school state-champion soccer teams and youth looking to become better athletes.
While working my way through academia, I have learned so much inside and outside the classroom. The best part of my job is hearing and seeing results from students and athletes after working with them, whether it is a mental or physical breakthrough in their performance. This is what motivates me to help you to be your best.
My daily goal is balancing my professional life with being a father of 5 under the age of 7. I understand the demands of trying to maintain health and fitness in such a demanding world. It may be difficult at times, but not impossible. I can help you with many aspects of your own challenges. Let me help you break through your barriers.
